  • TF-IAM has had a significant contribution to the development and deployment of Federated Identity technologies throughout the Asi@Connect membership.
  • Since its initial activity being led by GÉANT via the BACKFIRE project, it has transitioned to a community activity led by the AAF via iFIRE.
  • Both programmes successfully brought several Asi@Connect country members to be part of the eduGAIN.
  • To ensure there is a continuous support for the efforts and activities, hence a project called iFIRE eXtension for Managed Application Network (iFIRExMAN) was proposed and approved by the Asi@Connect.
  • The duration of the project is from 7 March 2022 until 6 March 2023.

Activities

iFIRExMAN project will focus on three (3) broad activities
Activity 1: TF-IAM Training Programme & Best-Practices Development

At APAN54 (or eResearch Australasia 2022) and APAN55.

Activity 2: Infrastructure Development and Pilot Test

Developing an Identity Federation software ecosystem based on Cloud Native technology that supports Cloud (NREN) + On-Premises (Campus) implementations by setting up a community-based incubator infrastructure for new identity federation pilot operations.

Activity 3: IAMready

An Identity & Access Management & Roaming Competition supporting hack-a-thon & deploy-a-thon events.

  • Participant MUST be from Asi@connect country/economy members.
  • Able to provide a commitment/contribution to the success of the project.
  • For Activity 1 & 2, the participant should be a REN operator, unless there’s no REN operator in that country/economy or the identity federation operator is not a REN operator.
  • For Activity 3, Female (engineer) participation is highly encouraged.
  • The participation call for each activity will be made separately.
